Position Overview:

 

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Manager at St. Luke’s Nampa is responsible for the daily operations and strategic oversight of the Med-Surg unit. This role ensures excellence in nursing and patient care by leading initiatives in patient experience and consumer engagement, fostering a culture of safety and quality, promoting stewardship of resources, and cultivating a positive and collaborative team environment.

 

What you can Expect:

  • Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt/Salaried
  • Schedule: Typically Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, need to be flexible with hours and requires 24/7 call with rotating administrative call
  • Direct Reports:  Approximately 70 to include Assistant Nurse Managers, RNs, CNAs and HUCs
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement staffing strategies to maintain adequate staffing coverage across all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet patient care requirements. Collaborate with nursing leadership to forecast staffing needs based on patient census and unit demands.
    • Serve as a liaison between the nursing staff, unit managers, and human resources. Maintain open lines of communication to address concerns, facilitate staffing requests, and support unit managers in managing staffing challenges.
    • Fostering a supportive culture of transparency, openness, and staff development.
    • Initiating and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the department to address patient/customer satisfaction issues and complaints.
    • Identifying opportunities for improved financial performance, implementing cost-reduction strategies, and enhancing the quality of care and service while maintaining a safe work environment.
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations governing healthcare services and practices, and developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Communicating program priorities, policies, and procedures to ensure a consistent patient experience and optimal clinical outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelors' of Nursing Degree
  • Experience: 7 years' of Registered Nurse experience required preferably in Med-Surg; may include a combination of registered nurse or nursing leadership experience (i.e. Charge Nurse, Administrative Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager).  Ability to manage and prioritize day to day needs.  Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact/collaborate with staff, managers, and other departments effectively.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current RN License from the State of Practice and Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
