Position Overview:

The RN Patient Flow Supervisor (PFS) provides oversight of the safe and timely placement of patients across the Treasure Valley and the broader health system. Operating out of the Enterprise Resource and Staffing Office, the PFS will also function in the role of an Administrative Supervisor, ensuring efficient patient throughput and optimal resource utilization.

 

This role collaborates closely with site leadership, the Transfer Center, Hospitalists, Intensivists, Virtual Admitter, and Enterprise Staffing teams to coordinate patient movement and staffing in real time. The PFS plays a key role in maintaining hospital flow, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring patients receive timely access to care.

 

What You Can Expect:

  • Position Type: 0.45 FTE | Part-Time (3 x 12's = 36 hours a pay period)
  • Schedule: Two positions available - one day shift position (0700-1930) and one night shift position (1900-0730) must be flexible with days of the week; includes weekends/holidays
  • Location:  St. Luke's Central Plaza, Boise - Enterprise Staffing Office (ERSO)
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Supervise and coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure timely and appropriate placement.
    • Monitor hospital capacity and staffing levels in real-time, making adjustments as needed to meet patient care demands.
    • Serve as a liaison between nursing units, providers, and ancillary departments to facilitate smooth patient flow.
    • Analyze trends in patient flow and staffing to identify opportunities for process improvement.
    • Respond to staffing shortages, surge events, and other operational challenges with sound clinical judgment and leadership.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety protocols.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's of Nursing Degree
  • Experience:
    • 3 years of Registered Nurse experience required; may include a combination of registered nurse or nursing leadership experience preferably in patient flow, staffing and scheduling
    • Strong knowledge of hospital operations, staffing models, and patient flow processes
    • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
    • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and staffing software systems
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure in State of Practice and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
