St. Luke’s Health System has an exciting opportunity for a LCSW or LMSW to join our team!The successful psychiatric Social Worker in this setting will have good diagnostic and treatment skills for a wide range of pediatric mental health conditions for youth in the ED, PICU and Pediatric Floor inpatient settings as part of the Pediatric Mental Health Consult Liaison Team.  The ideal candidate will easily determine and employ the most appropriate psychosocial modalities applicable to the patient in consideration of safety, diagnostic, and biopsychosocial factors.  They will feel very comfortable in risk assessment determining the appropriate disposition of a patient independently with identification of appropriate follow-on care (though consultation with the psychiatrist is available/expected).  They will provide brief supportive and crisis intervention strategies when needed as well as be able to lay a foundation for future work the patient will accomplish as an inpatient or outpatient such as cognitive behavioral, family, or dialectical behavioral interventions.  They will also command an excellent working knowledge of systems related issues (school, juvenile justice, health and welfare/CPS, fostering relationships with inpatient psychiatric facilities, and so forth) for the optimal care of patients as indicated.  They will work closely with the greater Social Work Team but also liaison closely with primary treatment teams in daily care of patients.  Primary clinical and operational direction will be obtained working most closely with the Consult Liaison Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist throughout the day for disposition, diagnostic, and therapeutic clarification.  They will provide leadership to the greater hospital staff in issues of approach to and management of pediatric mental health patients.  This will include work with the psychiatrist to help train and educate CNAs, Nursing, Child Life, Educators,  and physicians. 



Required Criteria 

  • Master's degree in social work from a school of social work approved by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Maintain Current LMSW or LCSW licensure in Idaho.
  • Emergency Department experience preferred.

  • Background through education and/or experience working within social work.
