    St. Luke's is currently looking for a Certified Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing Pediatric Opthalmology team! 


    Under general supervision, prepares examination rooms, reviews the appointment schedule, performs basic and routine vision screening examinations, administers eye medications, cleans and maintains ophthalmic instruments.

    Required Criteria:

    • Education:   High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience: 0 years relevant experience.
    • Licenses/Certifications:  Current Ophthalmic Technician Certificate


    Preferred Criteria:

    • Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values

    • Flexibility to work at Boise/Meridian locations

    Essential Job Functions 

    • Performs diagnostic testing for eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision and muscle movement.
    • Collects information from the patient such as medical histories and eye measurements.
    • Instructs patients about medications, tests and procedures.
    • Prepares the surgical room and equipment and observes the patient during surgery.
    • Maintains sensitive ophthalmologic equipment and keeps exam rooms clean and in order.
    • May assist ophthalmologist during minor surgical and laser procedures.
    • May act as a study coordinator by performing the essential testing required for each study such as vision, stereopsis, and cover testing.
