Overview

St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, ID is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Tech 2 to join our Clinical Engineering team.

 

Unit/Position Summary
The Biomedical Equipment Technician 2, under moderate supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment, instrumentation, and support systems used in healthcare deliver.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
  • Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
  • Tests the functionality of medical equipment making necessary operational adjustments.
  • Maintain documentation of all service events, performance tests, and corrective maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and/or maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs.
  • May assist senior biomedical equipment technicians or supervisor with in-service educational programs on use of equipment.
  • Understand and comply with Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations.
  • Complies with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State and local codes, regulations and requirements.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to subordinate group.
  • Performs tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity.
  • Handles moderately complex issues using knowledge of procedures and policies. Refers more complex issues to high-level staff.
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Department of Defense (DOD) Certification or 2 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: None
