St. Luke’s Health System has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Professional Behavioral Health Nursing Practice to join our Center for Nursing Excellence in Boise, Idaho!


The Director of Professional Behavioral Health Nursing Practice is responsible for aligning behavioral health affinity group nursing initiatives with Magnet model nursing components. These components include structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, transformational leadership, and improvements and innovation with a focus on outcomes determined by the CNO and St. Luke’s Nursing and Patient-Care Strategic Plan. The Director of Professional Behavioral Health Nursing Practice will collaborate with system-wide nursing leadership and shared governance leaders to implement process improvements that enhance performance outcomes and nursing evidence-based practices.


The Director of Professional Behavioral Health Nursing Practice has the unique opportunity to influence the development of behavioral health nursing practice across the entire health system. The Director, having strong academic preparation and clinical content expertise at the bedside, will lead evidence based practice initiatives to improve the quality of behavioral health care St. Luke’s offers. The Director will join the Center for Nursing Excellence, a team of clinical nurse specialists and other doctorally prepared nurses who champion best nursing practices across the health system. This team led St. Luke’s to achieving its fourth Magnet designation in 2015 from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.


Minimum Requirements include:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current Idaho Nursing license or ability to obtain
  • 7 years clinical experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Philosophy in related field
    • or Clinical Nurse Specialist Master's program
  • Behavioral Health expert
  • Clinical leadership experience
  • 10+ years clinical experience
