Overview

St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, ID is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist 3 with previous blood bank experience to join our Cellular Therapy Laboratory team.

 

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 10AM-7:30PM; on-call rotation

 

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced blood bank technologist to be a part of a multidisciplinary team providing patients throughout our region with cellular therapies. This position has it all, specialized testing, product processing and cryopreservation, patient interaction, exciting new therapies, and more. Build upon your previous Blood Bank experience and join our FACT accredited Cellular Therapy Laboratory to discover your new passion. Will consider hiring someone 0.6-0.9 FTE. 

  

Unit/Position Summary

The Medical Lab Scientist 3 is responsible for performing routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles complex issues and problems and possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A degree of creativity and latitude is required. Acts as a mentor/trainer/preceptor to all members of team.

Responsibilities

  • Tests specimens in an accurate, organized and prioritized manner following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and time guidelines in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Collects a variety of specimens as required by specific section needs, with skill and sensitivity to needs of the patient.
  • Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored.
  • Performs instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
  • Provides mentorship & training to others.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
  • Follows department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
  • Ensures input is accurate and complete.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Experience: 4 years’ experience.
  • Certification: Must have one of the following:
    • Blood Banking (ASCP_BB)
    • Chemistry (ASCP_C)
    • Cytogenetics (CYGT)
    • Hematology (ASCP_H)
    • Microbiology (ASCP_M)
    • Molecular Biology (ASCP_MB)
    • Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP_MLS)
    • Medical Technologist (ASCP_MT or AMT_MT)
