Overview

St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, ID is seeking an Instructional Designer to join our Talent Development team.

The Instructional Designer is responsible for planning, organizing, and developing learning experiences, materials, and programs to meet specific training needs. The goal is to create engaging learning encounters to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner to enhance retention and transfer. In addition to learning experience design, the Instructional Designer works to mentor others (leaders, subject matter experts, team members, etc.) in the process of developing engaging experiences.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Creates engaging learning experiences and course content that enhances retention and transfer.

- Applies proven instructional & learning experience design theories, practice and methods to create content that matches the instructional goals.

- Works with subject matter experts to identify target audience's training needs. Recommends best practices in delivery, design and assessment.

- Performs needs analysis to define the scope and learning requirements of assigned projects.

- Acquires an understanding of assigned projects through close collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter experts in order to manage all learning related requirements.

- Continually improves learning strategies and content by collaborating with subject matter experts.

- Applies the complete training cycle (analysis of training needs, design, delivery, and evaluation) to deliver effective instructional methods; makes recommendations and/or responds to recommendations to improve existing instructional materials.

- Maintains project documentation and course folders.

- Analyzes learning needs and partners with subject matter experts to provide input for course content, including the design of computer-based training programs.

- Manages training with the learning management system (LMS) team.

- Troubleshoots and responds to training questions and issues from learners and the project team.

- Responsible for training and mentoring others (leaders, subject matter experts, team members, etc.) in instructional design practice and methods to continually improve training deliverables and expected outcomes.

- Maintains current expertise in instructional & learning experience design tools and practices, recommends when changes are needed and mentors others in updating/change.

- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelors degree or experience in lieu of degree

- Experience: 6 years relevant experience 

- Licenses/Certifications: None
