Overview

At St. Luke’s, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and communities. We are seeking an Infection Preventionist with a strong background in microbiology or laboratory sciences to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. In this role, you will leverage your clinical and laboratory expertise to implement evidence-based infection prevention practices tailored to a variety of healthcare settings and patient populations.

 

This position requires travel throughout Idaho to various clinic and hospital locations as needed.

What You Can Expect as an Infection Preventionist:

  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate infection prevention programs across inpatient, outpatient, and post-acute care settings.
  • Conduct routine and targeted infection surveillance utilizing laboratory and clinical data.
  • Analyze microbiological trends to guide prevention strategies and participate in outbreak investigations.
  • Design and deliver educational programs on infection prevention and control best practices.
  • Perform infection control risk assessments and support development of mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with standards from OSHA, CDC, The Joint Commission, and other accrediting bodies.
  • Apply specialized knowledge in disinfection, sterilization, and environmental hygiene practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in:

  • Infection Prevention and Control or Hospital Epidemiology
  • Healthcare environments including inpatient, ambulatory, or post-acute care
  • Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related disciplines

Preferred Certifications:

  • A-IPC (Associate – Infection Prevention and Control)
  • CIC (Certification in Infection Control)
  • LTC-CIP (Long-Term Care Certification in Infection Prevention)

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Microbiology, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Nursing, or related field preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
