This role supports regeneration and growth by continuing the revitalization of nursing shared governance and engaging in activities to enhance professional nursing practice such as certification program, leading nursing sensitive indicator workgroups, providing expertise to system teams seeking to engage in quality improvement and performance improvement, guiding leaders to utilize data to influence patient outcomes, engage bedside staff in participating in developing their practice, incorporating our professional practice model into all nursing activities. St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Cytotech 2 to join our Ano Technology Laboratory team.   Unit/Position Summary The Cytotech 2 is responsible for performing routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles moderately complex issues and possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A general degree of creativity and latitude is required. May act as a mentor/trainer to junior members of team.   Responsibilities - Tests specimens in an accurate, organized and prioritized manner to ensure quality and time guidelines. - Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored. - Classifies slides, record classification and present slides with unusual cell structures to pathologist for further examination. - Compiles listing of patients for follow-up analysis of specimens. - Prepares and analyzes subsequent specimens for cell changes and reports findings to pathologist. - Maintains inventory of supplies. - Follows laboratory policies and procedures in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements. - Follows department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation. - Ensures input is accurate and complete. - Maintains a safe and clean working environment. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science degree. - Experience: 2 years experience. - Certification: Cytotechnologist (ASCP_CT).
