You’ll be able to travel and gain experience at all eight St. Luke’s locations – Boise, Meridian, Nampa, McCall, Wood River, Elmore, Magic Valley, and Jerome, all while being paid a competitive Internal Traveler wage. The Specialty Travel program starts with a tiered compensation rate based on experience. If you are out of your home area, it also includes a $100/wk food stipend, housing allowance or room at one of our owned condos/apartments, travel time to and from the assignment, and mileage to and from the assignment. Typical assignments are 13-weeks in length at any of our 8 St. Luke’s sites across the System, but could be as short as one week depending on need. Unit/Position Summary:
Director of Surgical Services areas of responsibility include:
- Preoperative

- The Boise Operating Room serves all specialties outside CVOR and L&D. We are the largest OR in the system and support the highest acuity patient population in Pediatric Trauma, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Robotics, ENT, OMF, Plastics, Urology, Bariatrics and General surgery. We have a fast-paced environment that encourages teamwork and fosters ongoing growth. Our facility is co-located with both the regions Children’s Hospital and the Cancer Institute.
- The Boise PACU is a 43-bed unit that cares for patients recovering from anesthesia. We have a diverse patient population including children to geriatrics. We are considered a Critical Care Unit and work together as a team to provide exceptional patient care.
- The Boise POHA includes 22 patient bays to prep and monitor patients before surgery. Due to the Children’s Hospital being in the same facility, this site does see most pediatric patients compared to other sites in the organization. The bays include 17 adult bays and 5 pediatric bays.
- The CardioVascular Operating Room (CVOR) at St. Luke’s is our heart and vascular specialty OR, serving cardiothoracic, thoracic, vascular and endovascular service lines. The unit has one surgical hybrid room in addition to three operating rooms. Patient population is primarily adults. RNs on the team also give conscious sedation.

The Registered Nurse (RN) will support the Patient Care Services unit (Med/Surg). This is a smaller-sized unit with currently only 15 inpatient beds. It is part of St. Lukes Elmore Critical Access Hospital and cares for an array of medical inpatients varying in age from newborn to elderly. In addition, this unit cross-trains with Women’s Services and provides care to postpartum patients and infants when needed. There is also the opportunity to cross-train to additional departments, including ED and Surgery.
