Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) is a 38-bed unit that specializes in post-acute stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and generalized weakness. We are CARF and MAGNET certified.
Due to the nature of Rehab, the care here is highly coordinated interdisciplinary care. Patients require daily Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and/or Recreational Therapy along with significant medical oversight to reach their discharge goals. The emphasis is on a return to functionality and promoting the highest level of self-sufficiency for patients who often start off significantly compromised due to stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological insults.
With an average nurse/patient ratio of 1:4-6 and an average stay of 14 days for each patient, you will have the opportunity to build a long-term rapport with patients. You will have the chance to be a central part of that great success for our patients. We are looking for nurses that have a passion for education and want to guide patients in self-sufficiency. - Emergency Department
- The Meridian ED is the busiest ED in the state of Idaho with 34 beds. The CNA's in the ED need to be self-confident, learn quickly and like an ever changing, fast pace environment. The team works closely together to help people with minor-major complaints
- Medical/Surgical 6
- Med/surg 6 cares for patients with acute medical, surgical, cardiac, and respiratory conditions. It is a dynamic environment rich with opportunities for learning. Staff is very collaborative and energetic and believes in team work to reach the best patient outcome. The unit is designed to provide high quality, personalized care for patients. We use a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that is patient centered and encourages teamwork between nursing staff, physicians, therapy teams, social work, care coordination, and pharmacists. Opportunities to get med/surg, pain management, ortho, and/or neuro certified.
- Telemetry
- Works with patients who suffer from heart disease, heart failure and complications associated with cardiac conditions. Meridian Telemetry is a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) providing an excellent patient experience through team work. We provide many learning opportunities to help our nurses grow.
- Med/Surg 5 - Surgical
- Postoperative patients recovering after orthopedic, Spine, Plastic Reconstructive, urological or general surgical procedures, patients with medical diagnoses.
- Pre-Operative
- The Meridian unit provides ortho, urology, general, OB/GYN, ENT, optics, plastics services (everything but head and vascular). PreOp CNA’s bring patients into PreOp to prepare for surgery. They obtain vital signs, lab work, perform EKG’s, assist patient’s with changing and toileting, clean patient rooms, moving stretchers, etc. It is a fast paced area with lots of movement. Also will be cross trained to float over to PACU as needed to assist patients. This is a fast paced area throughout the morning and early afternoon, but it slows down towards the evening. The CAP is expected to take over the unit clerk duties at 1430, along with helping with patient care and stocking.

- Critically ill adult patients-a mix of medical and surgical patients.

St. Luke’s Health System in Boise is kicking off our CNA Apprenticeship Program for Winter 2024!
Certified Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship:
The Certified Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship (CNA-T) program at St. Luke’s Health System is aimed at training and developing highly qualified Certified Nursing Assistants to meet the staffing need in our acute care settings.
Program Overview:
This program takes place over a 6-week time frame. Each CNA-T will complete a 6-week academic program through a local community college in a hybrid model of in-person and online learning. Concurrently, apprentices will build on this learning through a St. Luke’s apprenticeship experience through clinical precepting, accented with in-class simulation learning. CNA-T's will prepare and sit for the CNA credentialing exam at the end of the program. Upon passing, qualified individuals will be eligible to transfer to a full time or part time Certified Nursing Assistant position at St. Luke’s Health System.
Additional Details:
Individuals accepted into the program are hired as part-time employees subject to one year commitment. During the 6 week program you will be hosted by our internal float pool that travels to all 3 Treasure Valley locations. Transportation and flexibility will be required. Each week consists of two 8-hour shifts and an 8-hour class on Fridays from 0800-1600.
Textbooks, prep materials, and exam fees are provided.
Base rate will be $16.20 for all participants.
