Unit/Position Summary
Boise Oncology med/surg is a 24 (4 post op) bed Surgical unit where you will gain experience caring for patients along every phase of the cancer continuum, from diagnosis and treatment to palliative/symptom management and comfort care. You will care for post-surgical patients, patients receiving chemotherapy and some medical-surgical overflow. Those interested in an ICU-type experience will be able to care for patients who are critically ill and need close monitoring/intervention. Typical RN to patient ratios on this unit are 1:4. For CNAs, the ratios are typically 1:7-10.

What You Can Expect:
- Travel to Treasure Valley high schools and junior high/middle school settings, youth sport events, along with many other outreach community partnerships
- Provides standard immediate care procedures used in emergency situations, performs injury evaluation and assessment of patient's level of function and follows standardized practice in the area of diagnostic reasoning and medical decision making on behalf of the athlete.
- Understands and uses preventative measures, providing education to the community
- Determines appropriate therapeutic treatment and provides rehabilitation, and/or reconditioning strategies, and taping / wrapping and bracing for preventative and protective treatment.
- Evaluates and manages head injuries and concussions and develops appropriate return to play guidelines in collaboration with system entities.
- Ensures an Emergency Action Plan be put in place and discussed with the school's Athletic Director, coaches, and athletes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor degree
- Licenses/Certifications: Licensed as a Certified Athletic Trainer the state of practice. Board of Certification (BOC) certified. Current CPR/first responder certification and/or CPR for the healthcare provider. Valid Drivers License and Insurance.
