RNs on our team also give conscious sedation.   Responsibilities   Under direct supervision of a surgeon, the First Assist RN provides assistance to the surgical team during the intraoperative phase of surgical care. - Works in collaboration with the surgeon and health care team in the performance of surgical procedures, including assessment, planning, directing, providing and evaluating advanced nursing care. - in collaboration with the health team members, may participate in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients. - Collaborates with other health team members to develop, coordinate and implement a perioperative plan of care unique to individual patient needs. - Intraoperative - provides knowledge based technical assistance to the surgeon during the operative procedure according to standards, licensure, state regulation and facility/practice protocols. - Postoperative patient management in collaboration with other health care providers. - Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
