Unit/Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant Apprentice (CNA-T) assists nursing personnel in providing patient care in assigned areas, while learning the theory and skills of this discipline. Works under close supervision and clearly defined policies and procedures.
Program Overview
The program takes place over an 11-week timeframe. Each CNA-T will complete an 8-week academic program through a local community college in a hybrid model of in-person and online learning. Concurrently, apprentices will build on this learning through a St. Luke’s apprenticeship experience through clinical precepting, accented with in-class and simulation learning.
CNA-Ts will prepare and sit for the CNA credentialing exam at the end of the program. Upon passing, qualified individuals will be eligible to transfer to a Certified Nurse Assistant position in St. Luke’s.
Program Details
Individuals accepted into the program are hired as full-time employees. Each week consists of 32 hours of blended didactic and clinical learning plus 4 hours of study time. Textbooks, prep materials, and exam fees are provided.
