Comparable related formal training considered.   This is an entry level Medical Assistant position. No MA experience is required. The MA will be oriented to skills and tasks within initial scope of practice (determined by experience/training level). On-the-job training will be provided as the MA supports the clinic, and paid study time each week will be provided (4-8 hours/week). The MA will advance as competence increases with studies and hands on experience. St Luke's Temporary Summer Nurse Extern program is an excellent way to gain critical thinking skills and nursing knowledge while working on summe break!   Temporary summer nursing extern position for students actively enrolled in a BSN program who have completed a Nursing Fundamentals course and have obtained the designation of Nurse Apprentice from the Idaho State Board of Nursing. The position is available to eligible candidates who are interested in a nursing career at St. Luke's Magic Valley upon graduation. The nurse extern experience is designed to provide a supportive, positive, acute care experience for BSN students to apply critical thinking and nursing knowledge while functioning in the role of a nurse apprentice.  The purpose is to build relationships, gain knowledge and exposure to the benefits of a nursing career at SLMV.  The Nurse Apprentice is responsible for assisting the Registered Nurse to provide patient care within the scope of an unlicensed assistive personnel.
